1. Initial evaluation timeline
60 calendar days from receipt of parental consent. 8 NYCRR § 200.4(b)(1) permits extension only through the specific provisions it cross-references: a qualifying transfer under § 200.4(b)(7)(i), or mutual written agreement for a suspected learning-disability evaluation under § 200.4(j)(1). Do not describe the rule as allowing a general agreed extension for every evaluation. Source: NYSED current § 200.4.
2. Eligibility-to-IEP timeline
The IEP meeting is due within 30 calendar days of eligibility under 34 C.F.R. § 300.323(c)(1). Separately, 8 NYCRR § 200.4(e)(1) requires the board to arrange recommended programs and services within 60 school days of consent for a newly identified student. If the CSE recommends an approved private school, the board must arrange placement within 30 school days of receiving the recommendation. These are overlapping requirements; the state placement clock does not replace the federal IEP-meeting deadline. Sources: NYSED current § 200.4; 34 C.F.R. § 300.323.

Each state entry cites official sources. Links and state rules change. Confirm the cited official page again before a high-stakes act or deadline.
This companion is educational information, not legal advice. It does not replace advice from a licensed attorney in the state where the student attends school.
